Pav Bhaji is a popular street food from Mumbai. It’s a mix of mashed veggies and spices, served with buttered bread rolls. Our simple recipe will help you make this iconic dish at home. Whether you’re a pro or new to cooking, you’ll love making and eating this delicious Pav Bhaji!


Ingredients :
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, peas, beans)
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 2 large tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup capsicum, finely chopped
- 4-5 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 2-3 green chilies 🌶, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili 🌶 powder
- 2 teaspoons pav bhaji masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Lemon wedges
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Pav (Indian bread rolls)
Instructions :
- Wash and chop all the vegetables into small pieces. Steam or boil them until they are soft and tender. Drain and set aside.
- Heat oil and butter in a large pan or kadhai. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
- Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add the chopped capsicum and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and pav bhaji masala. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Add the boiled vegetables to the pan. Mash them with a potato masher or the back of a spoon until they are well combined with the masala.
- Add salt to taste and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and a dollop of butter.
- Serve hot with pav (Indian bread rolls) and lemon wedges.
